Archie and Marina Van der Byl said ‘I do’ in 1997 and moved to Los Angeles, California where he earned a Masters degree from Fuller Seminary’s School of World Mission. After seven years of study, deep reflection, a church-plant, two babies and many new friends from diverse cultures, they answered God’s call to return to their homeland, South Africa. With two decades of ministry in the trenches of large churches, college campus ministry, church planting, missions organizations and simple church - mostly in cross-cultural settings, Archie now serves on the core team in Pretoria.
Archie will be establishing a Missions and Church Planting School to train and send out future leaders worldwide. Marina mentors the marginalized and neglected by developing sustainable job skills while sharing God’s Word. She models what it means to be a socially responsible follower of Jesus. Together they continue to make disciples and train leaders.
Archie and Marina love their teenage children, Austen and Kaylee, and enjoy good chocolate, biltong (African jerky) and the breathtaking African landscape. Above all, they are fully committed to the best Boss ever, Jesus Christ!
