Our leadership, involvement, and vision for Every Nation in East Africa and Switzerland
Harry and Wendy, both former teachers in Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa, transitioned in 1994 to full-time ministry. They moved as missionaries to Botswana in January 1994 with their 20-month-old twin sons Jarred & Christopher and dedicated 15 years to mission work with Word to Africa. Living in the remote Kgalagadi desert, they planted six churches among the San/Bushmen and Bakgalagadi people.
South Africa and East Africa
Returning to South Africa in 2009, they joined Every Nation in Tshwane, contributing to leadership roles, spearheading initiatives like REACH and TEN DAYS Missions, and supporting church plants in Africa and Europe. Since 2020, they have led the East Africa Region, focusing on expanding Every Nation's influence in the region. Currently, there are ongoing church and campus plants in seven countries in East Africa.
Switzerland
In September 2023, after nearly 30 years as a full-time missionaries, Harry and Wendy felt the call of the Lord to Bern, Switzerland, to help with the first church plant in this beautiful country. They will be relocating for good in September 2024. Harry will still be serving as Regional Leader of East Africa while he assists in the exciting new Swiss church plant.
Why Switzerland?
- · According to Swiss government statistics, 60% of the population is either Catholic or Reformed Evangelical. Sadly, most of these churchgoers do so only during main Christian events.
- · More than 25% have no religious affiliation, compared to only 1% in 1970.
- · 6% claim to be Muslim, and this number is growing significantly.
- · There is a significant rise in traditional Norse pagan religion.
- · Only 4% claim to be Pentecostal/Charismatic and this number is declining.
We trust to plant German-speaking churches and campus ministries in Bern that will grow into German-speaking Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
There is no better time than now to bring the gospel's transformative impact into the lives of all Swiss people.
Thank you for your support for the work that spans two continents.
